Hello, my name is Lesley Delgado. I was born in Manta, Ecuador March 4, 1998. I graduated from Union City High School in New Jersey, on June 2016. Right now I am attending Saint Peter’s university studying to become a graphic artist. I will graduate on 2021 with a bachelor’s in graphic arts. I was 4 years old when me and my mom came to the states . High school for me happened very fast. I maintained having good grades. I wasn’t able to participate in activities as much as I would of liked due to some family problems. During that time I thought a lot about what I wanted to do and study for. I’ve always wanted to become an archaeologist. My dream was to even have my own museum someday. That dream went away when people around me kept telling me it’s not an easy field, I will get mistreated, there are hardly any jobs for that, and the pay isn’t good. So I decided to look for other careers, and landed finding an interest in criminal justice. Forensic science in specific. I love watching those criminal shows, But there was one thing that stopped me, which was chemistry. I could be good at anything else but chemistry. I tried my hardest to understand it, but it never came to be. Eventually I gave up on it and thankfully I did. That summer I made some friends until one day she suggested “hey why don’t we draw each other as cartoons”. I was like okay cool. When I drew her, I never realized how much thought and passion I put into her artwork. I felt happy and free. I went on my computer, scanned the art, and colored in my Ipad. From there on I started to draw more. It was truly a passion I haven’ figured out and thankfully, thanks to her, I did. So I decided to continue my study in an arts major. I looked into many schools to continue as an art major. "She was unstoppable. Not because she did not have failures or doubts, but because she continued on despite them" -Bea Tuplin
